Verdon, a lifeline of water and nature
An iconic river, the Verdon begins its journey in the Alpes de Haute-Provence, at the foot of the Col d'Allos, nearly 2,000 meters above sea level. Alternately a rushing torrent and peaceful lakes, the Verdon is both a natural force and a human partner, with dams providing hydroelectric power and essential water management. Over its 165-kilometer course, it carves out spectacular landscapes before finally joining the Durance river.
