When the lights go out, nature lights up… Discover the Starry Sky of the Villages of the Lakes and Gorges of Verdon
Set at altitude, preserved and naturally spared from light pollution, the Lakes and Gorges of Verdon area offers exceptional conditions for stargazing. This remarkable environment, ideal for observing the night sky, has recently seen its commitment officially recognized with the “Starry Towns and Villages” label awarded to five of its municipalities.
Driven by the strong commitment of the villages and supported by the Parc naturel régional du Verdon, this initiative rewards the efforts made to reduce nighttime lighting and preserve the quality of the night sky. Aups, Trigance, Tourtour and Villecroze now join Brenon, which has held the label since 2021. Together, they affirm the identity of a territory committed to creating darker, more beautiful nights—for the benefit of nature and stargazing enthusiasts alike.
This recognition is also accompanied by several major events and key dates in 2026, detailed at the end of this article.
