Place Louis Gauthier and its old halls

AUPS

It was the old market place as early as the 15th century.

Aups was of Franc-alleu, a privilege granted by the King of France who exempted the village from all taxes and duties on goods, hence the importance of this market.
Note the covered market of the halles on the site of the "1000 pieces" shop.
