A synthesis of routes 3, 5 and 6, route 7 will offer you the best possible overview of the valley. Passing between forests, maquis, castle, lake shore, ridges, summit and rocky areas, you will be sure to have a change of scenery!
From the Trail running Station®, you will start the route by you will start the route by slowly going down to the Chanteraine castle. Then you will go up to the foot of the village of Aiguines to go down to the banks of the lake. At the lake you will climb up to a path on the side of the cliffs offering a superb view of the lake.
On a rolling single track you will first climb to the Col d'Illoire where you can enjoy a panoramic view of both the lake and the gorges. This is followed by a balcony single overlooking the gorges to leave you on the final climb to the Grand Margès, passing through a superb forest and an exotic ridge line over a desert landscape. At the top, a 360 will let you admire all the beauty of the area and the journey you have made so far. As for the descent, it is no less beautiful as it takes you over a pretty plateau, an airy path and a pine forest. Beware however, the descent is technical and long.
